01 / OVERVIEW

Project overview.

Open Pantry Technologies, based in Sydney, Australia, operates a marketplace connecting participants across the food and hospitality supply chain. Supporting a marketplace means maintaining more than a customer-facing application. The backend must support the workflows and features used by different sides of the platform, while the underlying infrastructure needs to remain dependable as the product evolves. Adware Technologies partnered with Open Pantry for four years, working on its backend systems, infrastructure, CI/CD processes, and DevOps. The relationship involved ongoing engineering support for a feature-rich, two-sided marketplace rather than a short, isolated development project.

02 / THE CHALLENGE

The challenge.

Supporting a Marketplace With Complex Workflows Open Pantry's platform included an in-depth set of features across both sides of its marketplace. Supporting this kind of product requires an understanding of how its different workflows interact and how backend changes affect the wider system. The work extended beyond individual features. The team also needed to support the infrastructure and deployment processes behind the application. Maintaining the Systems Behind the Product Backend engineering, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure operations are closely connected. Changes to one area can affect the others, making consistent technical ownership important for a platform that continues to develop over time. Open Pantry needed ongoing engineering support across these connected areas.

03 / WHAT WE DID

How Adware Technologies helped.

1. Backend Development Adware worked on Open Pantry's backend, supporting the application logic and features behind its marketplace. The engagement involved working with a platform that served both sides of the marketplace and had a substantial range of features to support. 2. DevOps and Infrastructure Adware supported the operational side of the platform, including DevOps and server-related responsibilities. This gave Open Pantry access to engineering support across both application development and the systems running the application. 3. CI/CD and Deployment Processes Adware managed CI/CD responsibilities as part of the ongoing engagement, supporting the processes used to build and deploy changes. Keeping deployment processes connected to backend development helped the team support the platform as its requirements evolved. 4. Long-Term Engineering Partnership The relationship continued for four years. Rather than engaging Adware for a single feature or a short delivery cycle, Open Pantry worked with the team across backend development, infrastructure, and ongoing platform support. This long-term engagement is a central part of the project: Adware supported multiple connected areas of the product over an extended period. Services Delivered Project Highlights 4-year engineering relationship Adware supported Open Pantry over an extended period, providing continuity across backend development and infrastructure responsibilities. Complex, two-sided marketplace The team worked on a platform with an extensive range of features serving both sides of the marketplace. Backend and operational support The engagement covered both application-level engineering and the infrastructure and deployment processes supporting it. Direct client endorsement Open Pantry's founder publicly described the team's communication, technical knowledge, and working relationship in a testimonial.

08 / CLIENT FEEDBACK

Adware Technologies for the last three to four years, and they have been working on our back end. Shoaib and his team have been managing everything from CI/CD, DevOps, to a lot of the back end, and they have extensive experience, especially around marketplaces. We are a marketplace with an in-depth set of features on both sides of the platform. We have worked together for many years, and everything has been smooth sailing. Communication has been fantastic, and the knowledge from Shoaib and his team has been second to none. I would highly recommend them.
